Barham Parish Council has helped the picnic site group in every way which they can and we were really
excited about he prospect of the picnic site reopening.  The Parish Council have been more than
supportive to the group and at the last council meeting it was agreed to give them 1 last try, as it was
our solicitor was in the final stages of finalising the lease.

The break clause was for 2 years, but the picnic group told us that they couldn't get funding if it was less
than 3 years, 5 years or 10 years.  The Parish Council agreed that we would do a 5 years break clause.
The break clause is simply so that the group open the picnic site to public within that time.   We felt that
a 10 year break clause was way too long to leave the site to be opened for the public.

Unfortunately, the picnic site group would not get advice from there solicitor as they said that they didn't
want to waste money.  However, the lease cannot be done without a solicitor and any queries they may
have had, then a solicitor would have given them the correct advice.  Between the 2 solicitors any issues
could have been resolved.

Barham Parish Council had agreed that they would give £1000 towards legal costs for a 99 year lease with
5 year break clause.

The Parish Council has been more that concordant in wanting the picnic group to reopen the site, but we
are now greatly disappointed that they do not wish to proceed.
